Visibly irked by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s visit to Malabar, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan said on Tuesday that no communalism or parallel activities would be allowed in the party and warned that such moves would “Will be dealt with seriously.”

Satheesan told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that after two consecutive defeats in the assembly polls, the state unit of the Congress was on its way back to the state and it was not healthy enough to afford parallel activities by anyone.

His comments came as a significant section of the Congress party in the state was unhappy with Mr Tharoor’s ongoing tour.

When asked about Mr. Tharoor’s Malabar tour, Satheesan said that every leader has a place within the Congress and no one is against it, but the party has its own system and system.

Mr Satheesan also said such fake news could not destroy leaders like him as they were not “inflated balloons” that could be pierced with the prick of a needle.

Although repeatedly asked by media persons whether Mr Tharoor was an “inflated balloon”, he declined to comment.

The Leader of the Opposition also indicated that the Thiruvananthapuram MP did not participate in any agitation by party workers in the state capital, which was Mr Tharoor’s constituency.
