Minister KN Nehru distributing welfare assistance to a disabled beneficiary at Tiruchi Collectorate on Sunday.

Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister KN Nehru said in Tiruchi on Sunday that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is actively taking steps to ensure timely redressal of all grievances of persons with disabilities.

Speaking at a program organized by the Department of Disabilities to distribute welfare assistance of Rs 4.08 crore to 749 beneficiaries at Tiruchi Collectorate, he said Mr Stalin takes special care for the welfare of differently-abled persons. The minister said that in order to make the campus disabled-friendly, boards with Braille names are being installed at various places in the secretariat and said that land pattas will be issued to the remaining beneficiaries in the district as soon as possible.

School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that the state government was working for the welfare of persons with disabilities as its primary duty. As a result, more than 95% of the disabled persons in Tiruchy district had received their identity cards. On this occasion Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, Mayor M. Anbazhagan, Corporation Commissioner R. MLAs including Vaithinathan were present.

Meanwhile, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin attended the closing ceremony of the week-long photo exhibition on Chief Minister MK Stalin’s political journey at St Joseph’s College on Sunday.

He told reporters that on similar lines in other cities like Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore, the photo exhibition was successfully organized in Tiruchi and registered an attendance of over one lakh people.

The implementation of the announcements made by him in the Vidhansabha during the discussion on the demands for grants of his ministry will start soon. He said that the department would consider the demand of the people of rural areas to develop sports infrastructure in their area.
