Kannur (Kerala):

The recently launched Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express train was allegedly targeted by unidentified miscreants on Monday, police said.

Police said the incident came to light after railway officials noticed scratches on one of the window panes of the train allegedly due to stone pelting while it was passing through Valapatnam area of the district in north Kerala.

Railway officials immediately informed the police suspecting that a train passing through Valapatnam was pelted with stones.

Police said though it has not been confirmed that the incident took place right at its Valapatnam border, an investigation has been launched and all measures have been taken to prevent such incidents.

Railway officials said, according to the information, the incident took place when the train was passing between Valapatnam and Kannur Chirakal at 3.27 pm. The train was going from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram.

This is the second such incident in Kerala after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the state’s first Vande Bharat Express train from Thiruvananthapuram on April 25.

Last week, a train passing through an area between Thirunavaya and Tirur in Malappuram district was allegedly pelted with stones by unidentified miscreants.
