Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik has now spoken about the credit war and clarified that it hasn’t impacted the camaraderie among the team.
Stree 2 recently became the biggest Bollywood hit of the year, bringing joy to the film’s cast and crew. However, alongside the celebrations, a curious PR battle for credit erupted on social media between the movie’s lead actors. Addressing the situation, director Amar Kaushik has now spoken about the credit war and clarified that it hasn’t impacted the camaraderie among the team. He also pointed out that such situations often arise due to external influences, particularly when a film achieves significant success.
Talking to India Today about the social media frenzy, Amar explained, “Honestly, fans of stars usually have this fight on social media where they claim their favourite actor should get all the credit for the movie. It is okay. It is really to each their own. Fans getting into a social media war over credits is common. Also, when a film does well, people around [the stars] feed such things in the minds of everyone, including the cast, that they should get credit for the movie.”
Amar revealed his own strategy for dealing with the noise. “I just went for a vacation to stay away from the noise because it is usually when you hit a certain mark is when it becomes easier to get trapped in such social media games,” he shared.
When asked whether this online credit war affected the relationships among the cast, Amar assured that their bond remained strong. In fact, the team turned the situation into a moment of humour by creating a fun video. “Our bond has only gotten better. We shot a video with the entire cast where we are replicating the ‘who gets the credit for the film’ fight, and then I appear saying, ‘it is my film.’ It is a fun video that we have recorded,” he revealed.
Amar Kaushik made it clear that Stree 2 is a collective effort, crediting not just the stars but the entire team, including the technical crew. “Everyone knows that although the faces of the film were perhaps those 5-6 people, it is everyone who has worked behind the scenes that is equally responsible for the film’s success,” he stated.
Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has earned over Rs 500 crore in India, marking a significant achievement for the entire team.
