Strong tremors felt in Delhi, neighboring areas after Nepal earthquake

After the strong earthquake in Nepal, strong tremors lasting several seconds were felt in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and nearby areas. According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.3 and it occurred at 1.57 am. The depth of the quake was 10 km below the ground, the National Center for Seismology said.

“Earthquake of magnitude: 6.3, 09-11-2022, 01:57:24 IST, Latitude: 29.24 & Long: 81.06, Depth: 10 km, Location: Nepal,” National Center for Seismology tweeted. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Dalek (Nepal), 90 km southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said in a tweet that around 209 million people in India and Nepal felt the tremors over a distance of more than 500 km.

Several users took to social media platforms after the tremors were felt in the national capital.

An official of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority told Hindustan Times that no call has been received so far at the emergency operations center regarding any damage after the quake.
