Tamal Nath, Registrar, IIT Kharagpur PTI The mutilated body of Fainaz Ahmed was forcibly opened on Friday after the door of his hostel room was not communicated to him for hours.
Another IIT Kharagpur official said there is no apprehension of any disturbance at present and the authorities are probing the circumstances behind the death of the 23-year-old student.
His friends told that Fainaaz, a third year mechanical engineering student, was last seen on October 13.
He was a resident of Tinsukia district of Assam. His academic record was excellent and he did well in the examinations, Mr. Nath said. Her parents alleged that she was murdered and demanded a full investigation by the police into the incident.
