Student Union organized debate competition in MSU. Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Students of MS University displayed their oratory skills while presenting their views on topics ranging from history to secularism and current issues of reservation during the Inter-Faculty Debate Competition. The meet was organized by the Students Union of MS University (SUMSU).
The screening round was conducted on the first day of the three-day event which ended on Friday. About 90 participants were given two minutes to present their views on the topics decided by the organisers.
The 24 candidates who qualified for the next round were divided into 12 teams. After the second round of the qualifiers, a talk show was organized where Col Vinod Falnikar and Sergeant Sangeet Jha inspired the youth with their life stories.
The last day of competition saw six teams, each consisting of two members, fighting in the final round. The themes of the last round were: ‘Indian History: Only About the Glory of the Mughals’, ‘The word secular is not secular in itself’ and ‘Reservation System: A Little Too Long’.
The team of Apoorva Jha and Anjali Singh was declared the winner.
Ayushi Patil and Nidhi Chavda of Faculty of Social Work were declared the first runner-up. While Hekmatullah and Pratham Shah from the same faculty came third. Shah received the trophy for the best debater.
