Students of Nirmala High School, Vijayawada won accolades for their project ‘Gender Equality’ displayed at the SAFE & ALC Science Expo – 2023.
NTR District Collector S. Dilli Rao, who visited the stalls at the science fair a few days back, awarded a special prize for the project.
The students of Class XII of the school have prepared the project under the guidance of teacher Raja Rajeshwari. Headmistress Senior Gabby Antony appreciated the students for winning the award.
Students explained, “We displayed about the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, girl literacy, Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 and equal rights of women.”
Women Development and Child Welfare Project Director G. Uma Devi lauded Project Girls for creating awareness among people on women’s issues.
“We will try to meet the students who have prepared the project on ‘gender equality’ and encourage them to participate in more activities,” Ms Uma Devi said on Monday.
