After reaching Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, the team will head to Johor Bahru, where the prestigious tournament will be held. The Indian team will start its campaign in the tournament against hosts Malaysia on 22 October 2022.

The Indian junior men’s hockey team left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Bengaluru on Wednesday night for the 10th Sultan of Johor Cup.

After reaching Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, the team will head to Johor Bahru, where the prestigious tournament will be held. The Indian team, who finished their campaign with a silver medal in the 2019 edition after a close match against Great Britain, will begin their campaign in the tournament against hosts Malaysia on 22 October 2022.

The Indian colts will also take on Australia, Japan, South Africa and defending champions Great Britain in this year’s edition, which is set to take place after three years.

Speaking on the upcoming campaign, young forward Uttam Singh, who will lead the troops in the tournament, said, “The coveted tournament is returning after three years due to the pandemic. Our team is excited to compete against some of the strongest teams participating in the competition. This will be a good opportunity for us to test our squad and grow as a unit.”
