If you have a sweet tooth, this is even more precious. The recipe that the chef shared on social media is simple and easy, with a few tricks and tips to make it more Christmas-like.

On Christmas eve, it was customary, a rich porridge was cooked and eaten to bring in the festivities of the season The porridge is said to have been made with oats, dried fruits, spices, rum and honey.” He continued, “Over time, this porridge evolved into the present day cake. This is the Christmas fruit cake that my family loves.”

Here’s how to make fruit cake

Component

unsalted butter 180 g

caster sugar 150g

eggs 230g

Vanilla essence 5 ml or 1 tbsp

Flour 160 grams

salt 5 g or 1 tbsp

baking powder 3g

Cocoa Powder 15 g or 1 tbsp

Soaked fruits 200 grams

rum for soaking

powdered sugar

melted white chocolate

Method:

The first step is to mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Then, break the egg into three parts. Add vanilla essence. Beat the batter and fold it. Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Fold them into the mixture. Mix cocoa powder and soaked fruits. The chef soaked these fruits and nuts in rum for 8 weeks. You can also add some soaking liquid, which in this case is rum. Line a loaf tin with parchment paper. Pour the batter and flatten it. Bake it in a pre-heated oven at 160 C for 45 minutes. Sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar.

For a Christmas look, pipe a pocky stick and make a Christmas tree shape out of melted white chocolate. Stick them on top of the cake for Christmas vibes.
