The Supreme Court has agreed to hear next week on the petition challenging the Agneepath scheme of the Central Government. The hearing will take place next week when the court resumes after the holiday.

The PIL filed in the Supreme Court pertains to the Agneepath scheme where the Air Force aspirants said that their career will be reduced from 20 years to 4 years.

Advocate ML Sharma said, “My petition is regarding quashing of the notification issued by the government. Government can bring any scheme but it is about right and wrong. More than 70,000 are still waiting for appointment letters.

Last month, the Center launched the Agneepath Recruitment Scheme for the Armed Forces. The scheme, as a corrective step, targets youth in the armed forces. It is envisaged that the implementation of this scheme will reduce the average age of the Indian Armed Forces by four years.
