The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to respond by April 4 to two reports by a retired judge supervising the SIT probe into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, seeking cancellation of bail of Union minister Ajay’s son Ashish Mishra. was done. Mishra.

A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana said the monitoring judge had written to the state seeking cancellation of bail granted by the Allahabad High Court to Ashish Mishra in connection with the case.

“Two letters have been sent by the monitoring judge to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of the Government of Uttar Pradesh by the SIT, who wrote to the state to file an appeal in the Supreme Court for cancellation of bail of the main accused Ashish Mishra,” the bench said. ” Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli said.

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for the state government, took the direction and informed the apex court that the additional secretary, home, has told us now that they have not received the letters.

Thereafter, the bench asked him to go through the report submitted by the SIT and reply by April 4.

Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that the Uttar Pradesh government has submitted that they had opposed the bail in the High Court.
