A group of women from residential society where Payal Sakariya The Zindagis reached his house and broke earthen pots in protest. The women were protesting for the past three months over the short supply of water by the SMC in the society.
Meanwhile, Sakariya claimed that she too joined the protest and the local people were not opposing her. On Saturday morning, the women gathered outside Sakariya’s house and raised slogans for restoration of water supply. Later they broke the utensils of Sakariya’s house. Later, the group went to the entrance of the society and continued the dharna.
“The protest was also against the councilor and the SMC. Despite being from our society, we are not getting even basic facilities. Narayan Nagar Society president Shailesh Dhanani said, “We are not getting enough water for the last three months and no one is solving the problem despite several requests.
“I also joined the protest and it was not against me. Some people from opposition parties are spreading misinformation,” Sakaria told TOI.
The society has 525 houses and faces many civic issues like erratic water supply, drainage problem and bad roads. “Our councilors were elected earlier this month but still we are facing the same issues. We hope that our councilors will solve the problems of the people on priority basis. The roads in our area are in pathetic condition,” Dhanani said.
