Sushil Kumar Modi said, ‘Nitish Kumar wanted to be the Vice President’

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and senior BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday claimed that Nitish Kumar wants the post of Vice President of India.

His statement comes a day after Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar after breaking ties with the BJP and going back to his previous alliance with the RJD and the Congress. This was his eighth oath in 22 years.

The BJP MP claimed that Nitish decided to break the alliance when the party could not fulfill his demand.

“Now he (Bihar CM Nitish Kumar) will say that this is a lie. But two of his close aides spoke twice to senior Bihar leaders to find a way to make him the Vice President. We said it is not possible. It is 100% true (that this conversation took place),” BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi told news agency ANI.

Nitish Kumar on Thursday “laughed” at the claims and attacked the BJP for making such bogus allegations.

“Absolutely bogus, what a joke. I have no such desire. Did they forget how much our party supported their presidential and vice-presidential candidates? We waited for the election to end and then we Meeting called. Let them talk about me as much as they can. I’m not concerned with who’s saying what. Besides, nothing was made of it. If they find a place by speaking against me, I’ll have someone There will be no objection,” he said, referring to Sushil Modi as per Hindustan Times.

This was the second time Nitish Kumar broke his alliance with the BJP, after contesting the 2005 and 2010 elections together, the JD(U) decided to part ways with the NDA in 2013, only to return in 2017. JD(U) contested the election. Bihar assembly election 2020, as a member of NDA.

After the assembly elections, even though the BJP was a senior ally in the alliance, the chief minister’s post was given to Nitish Kumar.

The BJP is also alleging that Nitish Kumar always had ambitions for a high post and broke away from the alliance when he realized that he could not achieve it.

Nitish Kumar’s floor test on August 24

Nitish Kumar will prove his majority in the House on August 24 with his new alliance. The date was decided after the first cabinet meeting of the new government and discussion with Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Nitish Kumar currently has the support of 164 MLAs in the 243-member House.
