Suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh arrested again, for the second time in 3 days; He has more than 100 cases registered against him since 2004.

Suspended BJP MLA from Telangana T Raja Singh was again arrested from his Hyderabad residence on Thursday. The arrest comes two days after he was picked up by police on Tuesday for his controversial remarks following massive protests condemning his statement.

However, a Hyderabad court granted Singh bail hours after his arrest, which accepted his lawyer’s argument that the police had not issued a notice under CrPC 41(A) to the accused before his arrest.

Hyderabad Police said Singh has been booked under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act and has 101 cases registered against him since 2004, of which 18 were communal offences.

Singh cannot get immediate bail under the PD Act. Legal experts told PTI The PD Act can be invoked against a person if the authorities feel that he is a threat to law and order.

A police statement said he has been habitually making provocative and provocative speeches and driving a nail between communities leading to public disorder. “The Mangalhat Police has executed the PD’s order on him on August 25 and he is being lodged at the Central Jail Cherlapally, Hyderabad,” it said.

Singh was arrested and sent to jail in the afternoon amid tight security.

Meanwhile, in a new video that surfaced hours before his arrest, Singh attacked Telangana minister KT Rama Rao and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for allegedly maligning the atmosphere in Telangana. Singh alleged that Telangana Police has become a puppet in Owaisi’s hands.

He also targeted comedian Munawwar Farooqui and alleged that KTR allowed him to “make jokes about our gods”.

Owaisi earlier in the day demanded Singh’s arrest and said the protests in parts of Hyderabad were a direct result of alleged hate speech by the saffron party leader.

Owaisi said in a tweet that the police picked up 90 people from Shah Ali Banda area on Wednesday and were released on their statement. “This situation is a direct result of the hate speech of Raja Singh. He should be sent to jail as soon as possible. I also reiterate my appeal to maintain peace. #Hyderabad is our home, it should not fall victim to communalism,” tweeted Owaisi.
