Suzuki Motor and IIT Hyderabad partner to develop new innovation center

IIT Hyderabad and Suzuki Motor Corporation have joined hands to launch a new innovation center for knowledge exchange. The two sides signed a three-year contract to start the Suzuki Innovation Center (SIC) with a vision to “create innovation for India and Japan” through providing a platform for exchange of knowledge between the two organizations Huh. SIC will act as a new platform for open innovation among industries, academia and start ups. The new center will also support skill development and exchange of human resources between India and Japan.

Speaking on the initiative, IITH Director Prof. BS Murthy said, “This is the result of cumulative success stories between Suzuki Motor Corporation and IITH over the years. The philosophy of this program is to create inclusive value for Indian and Japanese societies. On top of the synergistic combination of technology and design, India And IITH will work closely with Suzuki Motor Corporation and other upcoming stakeholders to identify and address the broad challenges on mobility in Japan and beyond. The center is also a testament to the leaders we are producing at our campus. Very young and dynamic alumni of IITH: Vipul Nath Jindal and Pratyusha Thammineni, who have led the entire initiative from the ground-up.”

The detailed activities at the Suzuki Innovation Center are planned to be publicly launched in the second quarter of this year. SIC will play a vital role in strengthening India-Japan relations and is another milestone for IITH. As a part of this initiative, IITH has offered necessary support to the Center within the Technology Research Park.
