Amid rising customer complaints, the Center on Monday asked online food aggregators like Swiggy, Zomato and others to submit their current framework within 15 days as a proposal to improve their consumer grievance redressal mechanism.

The Department of Consumer Affairs has directed major e-commerce food business operators (FBOs) to submit proposals for improving the existing framework as well as the consumer grievance redressal mechanism within 15 days.

Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh during the meeting with leading e-commerce food business operators directed them to discuss the relevant issues affecting the consumers in this sector.

During the last 12 months, over 3,631 complaints have been registered on the National Consumer Helpline (1915) for Swiggy and 2,828 for Zomato, the government statement said.
