Switch Mobility to Supply 300 E-Buses to BMTC

Switch Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has received an order to supply and operate 300 electric buses for Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation.

It said in a statement that the fleet and charging infrastructure would be supplied, operated and maintained by Switch for a period of 12 years on gross cost contract model under the FAME II scheme.

The 12-metre buses are expected to reduce fuel consumption by about 5.5 million liters annually, leading to cost savings for BMTC as well as a reduction in carbon emissions of over 14,500 tonnes per year.

“All Switch vehicles are zero emissions, but we set the bar very high by aiming for net zero carbon across all of our operations,” said CEO Andy Palmer, executive vice president, Switch Mobility.
