Taapsee Pannu praises Mithali Raj for becoming the first woman cricketer to receive the Khel Ratna award

Mithali RajMajor Dhyan Chand became the first Indian woman cricketer to receive the Khel Ratna Award. Congratulating the sports personality, Taapsee Pannu called her an ‘inspiring’. Taapsee will be essaying the role of Mithali Raj in the biopic of women’s Indian cricket team captain ‘Shabash Mithu’. Taapsee shared a video of Mithali receiving the honor from President Ram Nath Kovind on her official Twitter handle and praised her.

She wrote, “Just hearing this exhaustingly long introduction to her praises makes me think she really deserves not just a movie, but a series built on it.” “So inspiring”, she added.

Meanwhile, Taapsee wrapped up the shooting of ‘Shabaash Mithu’ earlier this week. She took to her Instagram to share a few pictures from the sets, she wrote, “At 8 when someone had a dream, that a day will come when cricket will no longer be just a gentlemen’s game. We too will have a team, one. Will be recognized…’Women in Blue’ we are coming…soon…#ShabashMithu It’s a film wrap! Get ready to get excited for the World Cup 2022! #WomenInBlue”

The actress can be seen wearing an Indian cricket team jersey as she spends happy moments with her cast. ‘Shabash Mithu’ directed by Srijit Mukherji with story written by Priya Aven. Apart from this, Taapsee has an interesting slate of upcoming films like ‘Dobaara’, ‘Mishaan Impossible’, ‘Loop Lapeta’ and her first production ‘Blur’.

Earlier, on Saturday, Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Paralympic gold medalist Sumit Antil and female cricketer Mithali along with nine other sportspersons were conferred the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the country’s highest sporting honour, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. While an unprecedented 35 athletes were honored with the Arjuna Award at the glittering ceremony.
