Take a single case as an outbreak: Government’s guideline on monkeypox India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday issued guidelines for the management of monkeypox, though no case of the disease has been reported in India so far. Officials said the norms were issued to ensure preparedness to deal with any possible crisis.
A case should also be considered an outbreak, the ministry said. It should initiate detailed investigations by rapid response teams which need to be undertaken through Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. It directed all states and union territories to immediately report any suspected case to the state and central surveillance unit, which will report the same to the health ministry.
The norms state that contacts of a confirmed case should be monitored daily for onset of symptoms for 21 days.
