Taliban fire in air to disperse crowd during anti-Pakistan rally in Kabul

The Taliban opened fire in the air to disperse hundreds of people who had gathered for an anti-Pakistan rally in Kabul on Tuesday, news agency AFP reported. Videos shared by local media showed hundreds of locals, including women and children, protesting on the streets of Kabul, raising slogans against Pakistan.

During the protest, slogans like “Azadi, Azadi”, “Pakistan ko death”, “ISI ko death” were raised, where burqa-clad women carrying placards walked on the road.

Last week, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed visited Kabul and met Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who is likely to head the new government in Afghanistan.

Pakistan, which has backed the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan, is trying to regain control of the war-ravaged country amid chaos following the withdrawal of US-led international forces.

The Taliban recently described Pakistan as their “second home”, with Islamabad backed by the insurgent group.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told ARY News in an interview that Pakistan was their second home and that “no activity against Pakistan will be allowed on Afghan soil”.
