Taliban seeks greater role in distribution of foreign aid – Times of India

Kabul : Taliban administration that seized control of Afghanistan proposed a joint body of its officials and international representatives on Wednesday to coordinate billions of dollars in planned aid.

Foreign governments, facing warnings that millions could starve as the economic crisis intensifies, are increasing humanitarian aid but are eager to remain free of government interference.
A spokesman for the Afghan Finance Ministry said the proposal for the joint body would be discussed with the United Nations in the next 24 hours.
Alkabarov, the UN Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan, told Reuters that UN agencies were already communicating their requirements for aid to the Taliban.
Her top position has reached across the country including female staff members.
