Tamil Nadu auto driver arrested for sexual harassment

A 22-year-old woman has filed a sexual harassment complaint against an auto driver named Mohammed Sadiq at Peelamedu police station in Tamil Nadu. The complainant, who is employed in a private firm, said that he booked a ride through an application and the offense was committed while on his way back from the workplace.

She mentioned that she was coming from an educational institution around 12:30 when the driver allegedly misbehaved and assaulted her. The auto driver reportedly did not stop his unreasonable progress despite his disapproval and denial.

Further, he refused to stop the vehicle at her request, forcing the survivor to jump out of the auto. Subsequently, he suffered head and neck injuries and was later taken to the hospital for medical attention by his friends.

Based on the complaint, the Peelamedu police arrested a 43-year-old man. She has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman) of the Indian Penal Code, 354 (a) (sexual assault) and section 4 (assault or hurt) of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment of Women Act. ,
