Chennai: Former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday urged Edappadi K Palaniswami, VK Sasikala And TTV Dinakaran to come together to strengthen AIADMK, after the decision of the Madras High Court in the line of dual leadership. Panneerselvam sought to come up with “whoever it is”, who stood by late leaders MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa,
However, Palaniswami leveled several allegations against Panneerselvam and denied reconciliation. “Since Panneerselvam was involved in anti-party activities, office-bearers and workers want the party to return to a single leadership. It is not with any personal intention,” Palaniswami said. AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran said any selfless person would welcome Panneerselvam’s statement.
A day after the Madras High Court ruled in his favour, former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday called on Edappadi K Palaniswami, VK Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran to come together to strengthen the AIADMK. “Our aim is to see AIADMK ruling the state for centuries as envisioned by Amma. Our thinking and action is to be united, united and united,” OPS told reporters at his Greenways Road residence in Chennai.
Panneerselvam insisted on coming together, “whoever it is,” who stood by late leaders MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa and built the party. “Let what has passed pass away… It is not that they have to come to us or we have to go to them. Everyone should unite… This includes Chi Namma (VK Sasikala) and TTV Dhinakaran.’ 1.5 crore workers and the public wanted to see the return of the AIADMK, which had ruled the state for three decades.
Repeatedly addressing the EPS as their ‘dear brother’, the OPS said that they were both elected as coordinators and joint coordinators by primary members of the party in December last year following a change in the party’s bylaws. Urging the rival camp to come together, forgetting the bitterness of the past, he said, “We get information from different quarters that the workers and the public want the party to remain united.” The OPS said that his supporters had extended full cooperation during the four-and-a-half-year rule of the EPS.
