Tamil Nadu Governor RNRV pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Governor RNRV and Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Kamaraj Salai on the occasion of his 153rd birth anniversary. He also saw Bhajans and spinning wheel by members of Chennai Sarvodaya Sangam.

Later, the Governor visited Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Chennai, where he inaugurated the Khadi discount sale and bought and paid for a Thanjavur plate and an idol of Lord Nataraja. Shri Ravi highlighted the historical importance of Khadi and appealed to the youth to strengthen the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign and buy clothes to help the weavers. Handlooms and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi attended the ceremony.

After this, Shri Ravi paid floral tributes at the Gandhi statue in the Raj Bhavan complex. Anandrao V. Patil, Secretary to the Governor and employees of Raj Bhavan also participated.

Later, the Governor inaugurated a three-day long exhibition highlighting the dedicated life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence at Koyambedu, being organized by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Chennai under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He released two books titled Gandhi Ordined in South Africa by JN Uppal and The Story of India’s Partition by Raghuvendra Tanwar. The first copies of these books were received by former IAS officers D’Koza and Naresh Gupta respectively.
