Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu:
A lawyer was arrested on Tuesday for attempting to murder a law student and her mother in Tiruppur’s women’s court.
Lawyer Abdul Rehman (25) falls in love with Amarneesh (20), a first year student of Salem Law College, who hails from Tiruppur. But, she turned him down.
Police said that since the lawyer followed her, she filed a complaint with the police in Salem last month, following which Abdul Rehman was arrested, who was remanded to judicial custody.
After getting bail, Abdul Rehman, who was working as an assistant to a senior lawyer, went to the house of public prosecutor Jameela on Sunday and escaped after attacking both the mother and daughter with sickles.
The mother and daughter were admitted to a city hospital.
Abdul Rehman was arrested and remanded in the early hours today and cases were registered under sections 294 (b), 307 and 447 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), police said.
