Chennai: The Tamil Nadu The government on Wednesday announced a slew of restrictions – including imposing a complete ban lockdown Night curfew on Sunday (January 9) from 10 pm to 5 am (starting January 6) and restrictions on entry of people into places of worship on Friday, Saturday and Sunday – to reduce transmission of COVID-19,
In an order, the government said that no physical classes will be allowed for students of classes I-IX. Offline classes will continue for class X, XI and XII students.
Barring medical colleges, all other colleges in the state will remain closed till January 20. It will be treated as study leave before the upcoming examinations.
Training and coaching centers are not allowed to function.
Creche, nursery are not allowed to function.
Exhibitions and book fairs have been postponed.
Only 50 percent occupancy in buses and metro trains.
All festivals and celebrations organized by the government for Pongal have been postponed.
Amusement/amusement parks will remain closed.
Only walking will be allowed on the beaches.
Vegetable and fish stalls will be set up at many places to avoid overcrowding.
Double immunization should be done for the employees of service centers like shops, private organizations, banks, commercial establishments and theatres.
Restaurants, eateries and jewelery and textile shops can operate with 50% occupancy.
Weddings can have 100 participants and funerals can have 50 participants.
Clubs, gyms, hotels, theatres, multiplexes, beauty parlors, salons can have only 50% occupancy.
Sports events will be allowed in open ground with adequate precautions. 50% spectators will be allowed in closed stadiums
Night curfew and Sunday lockdown
All restaurants, eateries and business establishments will remain closed during night curfew and on Sundays. But takeaway services can continue.
Essential services like inter-state public transport, including private transport, are allowed as long as they follow standard protocols.
Exemptions have been given for milk vans, trucks carrying essential goods, petrol, diesel and LPG vehicles that can operate. ATM rooms can remain open.
Medical and ambulance services, newspapers, medical shops and hospitals are allowed to function. Employees of IT companies have been advised to work from home.
There will be no metro rail service or public transport on Sunday. Hotels are allowed to offer only parcel services from 7 am to 10 pm. Air or rail passengers can go to airports/railway stations as long as they have a copy of their tickets
Vaccination
All government and local administration employees should be double immunized. The government has to submit the certificate.
Employees and owners of shops, malls, salons, banks and others should be given double vaccination. The government has to submit the certificate.
Drivers and conductors should have been double vaccinated.
