Tamil Nadu Police had arrested former minister KT Rajendra Bhalaji on January 5 in a cheating case in Hassan. Virudhunagar district police was looking for him in parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The AIADMK leader is said to have been hiding near Hassan for the past few days. Police after gathering information about his whereabouts saw his vehicle on BM Road. They seized the vehicle and took the former minister into custody.

Hassan’s superintendent of police R. Srinivasa Gowda says Hindu That he had not received any official communication from Tamil Nadu Police on his arrest. “Generally, whenever police from other states conduct such operations, they inform the local police. So far we have not received any official communication from him.”
