Tamil Nadu Police busts two spurious liquor blending units

Hundreds of bottles of liquor with fake labels, holograms seized.

The Enforcement Branch of Tamil Nadu Police on Saturday detected two spurious liquor manufacturing units in Chengalpet district and seized a large quantity of liquor bottles with fake labels, holograms and other machinery.

Acting on the instructions of Additional Director General of Police (Enforcement) Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, a team of Central Intelligence Unit, Villupuram Zone team, which was following a specific input, detected a spurious liquor blending unit at Sathurangapattinam.

The team has also seized a car and a motorcycle, besides confiscating the material used for making liquor and other materials like bottles, labels etc. During the search, two persons Manikandan (42) of Kumarapakkam and Jayalakshmi (40) of Thirukazhukundram were arrested.

Based on the inputs shared by Manikandan, the team detected another spurious liquor in Poonthandalam and arrested Sathish (29) of Sathurangapattinam.

The Superintendent of Police, Central Intelligence Unit, Chennai and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Central Intelligence Unit, Northern Zone, rushed to the spot to collect information about the source of the banned material.

The Mammalpuram (Prohibition Enforcement Wing) police have registered a case.
