The India Meteorological Department has predicted that the north coastal districts and Puducherry may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 28.
The state has received 60 cm of rain, which is 74% more than its seasonal average till November 27.

Chennai may set a new record for November rains
Chennai could be on the verge of recording its warmest November in 100 years, setting a new record.
Chennai received 98 cm of rain for the month, with the city receiving 10 cm of rain on the morning of November 27. According to the data of the India Meteorological Department, the record so far has been recorded in November 1918 with 108.8 cm of rain.

Advice to people living in low-lying areas to go to camps
The Salem district administration has advised people living in low-lying areas to contact the district administration and move to safer places identified by the administration.
In a release, District Collector S. Karmmegham said that due to the recent rains, several reservoirs in the district have been filled as excess water is being released. He advised the public to take precautions as the water bodies in the district are increasing in flow. The Collector advised the public to use only bridges while crossing the water bodies.

About 8,000 cusecs of water released in Vaigai
Collector S. Anish Shekhar said here on Saturday that heavy rains in Madurai city and adjoining areas for the last two days have led to a steady increase in water storage and all the tanks had water up to 75-90% of their capacity.
Talking to reporters, he said that PWD officials had released 7,000 to 8,000 cusecs of water in Vaigai and hence people should stay away from the river course. He said that despite the heavy rains, the district remained largely safe as it recorded below average rainfall. Water entered houses in low-lying areas of Melur area.
