A woman was stabbed several times by her husband outside a court in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district, where he was to appear in a divorce case.
The police arrested the husband and registered a case of attempt to murder against him.
Police said Sudha and Kamaraj couple traveled in the same bus by chance. “When they got down at the court bus stop, the man took out his hidden knife and stabbed him several times,” Perambalur Superintendent of Police S Mani said.
SP Mani said, “We have registered a case of attempt to murder on him.”
Police said a policeman who had got down from the same bus and another who was on duty outside the court overpowered the accused.
“One of them suffered injuries. We have also included provisions against attacking the police,” said Mr. Mani.
Presently the woman is undergoing treatment.
Police said the couple had been fighting a divorce case for several years and it was in its final stages.
