As Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed a baby boy via surrogacy, congratulations poured in for the couple. However, Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen posted a tweet questioning whether mothers can bond with such ‘readymade’ babies. Though he later denied that the tweets had anything to do with the star couple, he was criticized for questioning people’s personal life choices. The first tweet was posted by the author on January 22, the same day Priyanka Chopra told the world about her baby. This is what he wrote:
“How do those mothers feel when they get their readymade babies through surrogacy? Do they have the same feelings for children as mothers who give birth to children?”

In subsequent tweets, he clarified his stand. He said that surrogacy is used to take advantage of women from economically weaker backgrounds.
“Surrogacy is possible because there are poor women. Rich people always want the existence of poverty in the society for their selfish reasons. If you have a bad need to raise a child, adopt a homeless one. Children must inherit your traits—it’s just a selfish egoistic ego.”

“I will not accept surrogacy until rich women become surrogate moms. I will not accept burqa unless men wear it with love. I will not accept prostitution until men become prostitution Castes and men don’t wait for female customers. Otherwise surrogacy, burqa, prostitution or just exploitation of women and poor.”

“My surrogacy tweets are about my differing opinions on surrogacy. Nothing to do with Priyanka-Nick. I like duets.”

“Many support surrogacy as a ‘personal choice’ but don’t support any ‘personal opinion’ if that opinion is critical of surrogacy. Some intolerant people banned my twitter handle. In fact I do not support any ‘individual’, they support the collective ego.”

“Ppl are abusing me for my comments on surrogacy. They claim that it is my stone age idea that wombs should not be rented to have children. I want to adopt homeless children and use bodies of poor women. I suggest not exploiting/assaulting. In fact it is a Stone Age idea of somehow reproducing children for the following traits.”

Netizens felt that Taslima’s comment was inappropriate. Many a times, a woman takes the route of surrogacy as she is unable to give birth due to medical reasons, he said.
“Since when does the quality of ‘motherhood’ depend on how much discomfort one has endured? It is a very toxic quality to associate pain tolerance with their value.”

“Why don’t you ask the same question for fathers?”
“Giving birth – being a mother. People who can’t have children or don’t want to have 1 birth are just as many parents as people with biological children. Y Is it so hard to understand? Then same sex What about the parents with whom? Do they have it easy because they get to have “ready” kids?”

“What the heck! Even fathers get readymade babies. Does that mean they love them less? By your logic the adoptive parents don’t love their children? Also the reason behind their decision is none If you know, why do you want to invade someone’s privacy?”
What’s stupid! Fathers get ready kids too. Does that mean they love them less? By your logic, parents who adopt kids don’t love their kids as well? Don’t know the reason behind the decision, so why do you want to invade someone’s privacy? https://t.co/Xc30iV00aw— man_x (@saysme12) 22 January 2022
“Most women can’t reproduce due to natural constraints and most of them just don’t want to, if they want to adopt or have them through surrogacy it doesn’t make them less of a mother. Women like you who are still yours. Trying to cage the breed, they are worse than the men.”

Even though Priyanka and Nick have chosen not to reveal the gender of their baby yet, an American website TMZ claims that the couple has reportedly welcomed a baby girl.
