Tasmac Pongal sales cross ₹500 cr in Tamil Nadu, Madurai region sees highest sales

Liquor sales of ₹ 520.13 crore this year surpassed the figure of ₹ 417.18 crore at this time of last year

Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited, popularly known as Tasmac, sold liquor worth ₹520.13 crore this Pongal festival season, an increase of 24.67% over last year’s sales.

On 13th January, the total collection was ₹203.05 crores and on Pongal day it was ₹317.08 crores. Last year, during the same period, Tamil Nadu government’s cash cow sales reached ₹417.18 crore.

Data provided by sources at Tasmac shows that this festive season, Madurai region saw the highest sales of ₹111.47 crore followed by Tiruchi region with ₹107.10 crore. Salem region sold liquor worth ₹104.54 crore, while Coimbatore belt sold liquor worth ₹98.61 crore. This year, sales in Chennai region remained at the bottom with sales of ₹98.41 crore.

A Tasmac source said the long weekend helped boost sales. “The sales were good even a day before Bhogi (January 12) and it was ₹155.06 crore,” he added.

Tasmac sells liquor worth ₹130 crore to ₹140 crore daily in Tamil Nadu through its over 5,300. Shops.
