Tata appoints new CEO and MD for Air India

Tata Sons has announced that Ilkar IC has been appointed as the CEO and MD of Air India. The Air India Board met this afternoon to consider the candidature of Mr. IC. Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran was a special invitee to this board meeting. The Board after due deliberations approved the appointment of Mr. IC as CEO and MD of Air India. This appointment is subject to requisite regulatory approvals. Until recently, Mr. Ayci was the chairman of Turkish Airlines and before that he was on the company’s board.

Mr. Chandrasekaran said, “Ilkar is an aviation industry leader who has led Turkish Airlines to its current success during his tenure. We are delighted to welcome Ilkar to the Tata Group, where he will lead Air India to a new era. Mr. Aysi was born in Istanbul in 1971. He is a 1994 alumnus of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Bilkent. After a research stay on Political Science at the University of Leeds in the UK in 1995, he joined the 1997 I have completed an International Relations Master’s program at Marmara University in Istanbul in 2015. Mr. Aysi said, “I am delighted and honored to have accepted this privilege. To head a reputed airline and join the Tata Group. Working closely with our partners at Air India and the leadership of the Tata Group, we will use Air India’s strong heritage to make it one of the best airlines in the world, with a uniquely superior flying experience that adds to the Indian warmth and Reflects hospitality. Mr. Icy will assume his responsibility on or before April 1, 2022.
