Tata Motors to place largest ever EV fleet order for BlueSmart

Tata Motors has bagged an order to deliver 10,000 Xpress-T EVs to BlueSmart Electric Mobility after signing the MoU on World Environment Day. This is over and above the previous order which included 3,500 units of the Xpres-T EV, making it India’s largest EV fleet order.

BlueSmart will be using the X-Press-T for its cab services in multiple cities in India as the Xpress-T EV went on sale last year and is based on the pre-facelift version of the Tata Tigor EV. However, it is not clear which variant has been ordered by BlueSmart.

Only the commercial Xpres-T EV comes with two battery options – 21.5kWh and 16.5kWh – with an ARAI-claimed range of 213km and 165km respectively, and overtakes the private buyer-focused Tigor EV which offers a range of 306km. Sports the claimed range.

While the Xpress-T is the brand’s first dedicated all-electric vehicle for fleet operators, Tata Motors is expected to introduce more models under the Xpress brand in the future.

As far as all-electric passenger vehicles are concerned, Tata Motors has taken the lead with the Nexon EV, which is the best-selling electric SUV in India. The brand recently introduced the long-range Nexon EV Max and also sells the Tigor EV in India. Tata Motors also unveiled two innate electric concepts, the Avinya and the Curve, which will lead to coupe SUVs in the future.
