Tata Nexon CNG once again seen in the test, will give competition to the upcoming Kia Sonet CNG

The steep rise in petrol prices is prompting consumers to find more economical fuel sources for their daily commute. In this context, CNG is proving to be a better option than everything available at present. Hence, carmakers are also gearing up to launch their best-selling models with factory-fitted CNG kits to capitalize on the demand. Earlier, test mules of the CNG avatar of the Tata Nexon were spotted on trial, confirming the arrival of the compact SUV with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Fresh pictures of the mule have again surfaced on the internet, leading us to believe that the launch is near.

In a YouTube video uploaded by Trakinwheels, a test prototype of the Nexon’s CNG avatar can be seen. It gets a flame red paint scheme with dual-tone treatment. The Nexon is sold with two powertrain options – 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L diesel. In the bi-fuel variant, the indigenous compact SUV is likely to be available only with a 3-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. Also, it is believed to be sold exclusively with a 6-speed stick shift unit. The AMT option will be reserved only for the petrol trims.

Tata Nexon is available in seven color options – Royal Blue, Grassland Beige, Daytona Grey, Fairy Red, Atlas Black, Follies Green and Calgary White. In addition to this, the compact SUV comes equipped with a host of safety features, which help it secure a 5-star GNCAP crash test rating.

As standard, Nexon gets ABS with EBD, brake disc wiping, reverse parking camera, dual front airbags, front seat belts with seat belt reminder, pre-tensioner and load limiter, electronic stability program, hill-hold control, electronic Break pre- and fill more. The higher trims get additional protection of reverse parking camera, rear defogger and front fog lamps with cornering function.
