The Tata Punch micro SUV was officially unveiled today and Tata confirmed that the Punch prices will be announced in a few weeks from now on October 20, 2021. The Tata Punch will go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Press and Renault Kwid once they are launched. We expect Tata Punch prices to be in line with Tata Altroz prices. Booking for Tata Punch starts from today and customers can book the car online or at 1 PM Bye Dealership for payment of ₹ 21,000.

The Punch is the production version of the Tata HBX concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The punch from Tata is a beautiful looking thing! The exterior design is in line with its larger siblings, the Harrier and Safari, with slim LED daytime running lights and large headlights mounted on the bumper. The grille is similar to the Nexon and the front bumper is chunky and features Tata’s tri-arrow pattern motifs. The top-spec model is likely to come with a dual-tone color option.

Built on the ALFA of Tata’s agile, lightweight, flexible, advanced architecture that also underpins the Tata Altroz, the Punch will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine with Dyna-Pro technology and will be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT unit. Will be done. Too. Tata says that the AMT unit gets altitude calibration, which means that the car will retain its performance even in high altitude areas. There will be two driving modes on offer – City and Eco, as well as ‘Traction Pro’ feature.

Viewed in profile, you see bold character lines and a smaller hatchback-like silhouette, with a tall, straight stance. Dual-tone alloys also look good. At the rear, the overall design seems similar to that of the Renault Kwid, but is differentiated through LED taillights and a tri-arrow motif on the rear bumper. There is a lot of cladding all around which adds to the punch’s SUV credentials.

The SUV has an approach angle of 187 mm, 370 mm of water-load capability and a departure angle of 27.6 degrees and a ramp break-over angle of 22.2 degrees. Tata promises that the Punch will have true SUV features and deliver an authentic SUV experience. We’ll be driving the car soon and can’t wait to test the claims.

In terms of safety, the Tata Punch gets dual-airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD and an industry-first brake self control. The top-spec model will also feature a reverse-parking camera. The Tata Punch will be offered in four trims or ‘personalities’, as Tata is calling them – pure, bold, complete and creative. There will also be two optional feature packs on offer, which are Rhythm and Dazzle.

The top-spec model of Tata Punch gets fully automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, 90-degree opening doors, cooled glove box and 7-inch Harman infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and optional Tata’s iRA connectivity suite get system. The cabin boasts of a neat design with 366 liters of bootspace and is said to have over 25 utility spaces in the cabin. Other features include body-coloured air-con vents on the top model and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear-knob.
