Taxpayers face problem in accessing e-filing portal; Infy ​​is taking measures, says IT dept.

Taxpayers are facing problems in accessing the e-filing portal, with the Income Tax Department saying on Saturday that software provider Infosys is taking “proactive measures” to tackle the “irregular traffic” on the portal.

IT Dept tweeted, “It has been observed that taxpayers are facing problems in accessing the ITD e-filing portal. As informed by @Infosys, they have noticed some irregular traffic on the portal for which Proactive steps are being taken.”

The new e-filing portal, introduced on June 7, 2021, began with taxpayers and professionals reporting discrepancies and difficulties in its functioning. The contract to develop the portal was awarded to Infosys in 2019.

Recently, the portal faced blockages on the first anniversary of its launch and many users complained that they were unable to log into the portal, while some complained of a glitch in the search functionality.

The government has paid ₹164.5 crore to Infosys for setting up a new income tax e-filing portal.
