Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu wept in front of media persons in his party’s chamber after walking out of the Assembly on Friday. He vowed to step into the Andhra Pradesh assembly again only after returning to power. In an emotional speech, the Leader of the Opposition said in the House that he was hurt by the constant abuses being made on him by the members of the ruling YSR Congress.

“For the last two-and-a-half years I have been humiliating but kept calm. Today they have targeted my wife also. I have always lived with dignity and respect. I can’t take it anymore,” Naidu said.

While he continued to speak, Speaker Tammineni Sitaram cut the mic while members of the ruling party called Naidu’s remarks a “drama”.

During a brief discussion on the agriculture sector, the former chief minister expressed his dismay after a heated argument between the two sides in the House. Later, he had a quick meeting with the MLAs of his party in his chamber, where he broke down. Shocked TDP MLAs consoled Naidu after which they all returned to the House.

Naidu then announced his decision to stay away from the House “until I return to power”.
