Industries, Commerce and IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath slams Telugu Desam Party for financial mismanagement

Industries, Commerce and IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath pulled up the Telugu Desam Party for its financial mismanagement during 2014-2019, which was confirmed by the Union government in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

“The TDP’s false narrative against YSRCP was exposed in the Rajya Sabha when the Union Minister of State for Finance indicated that TDP was the cause of financial crisis in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The minister said TDP MP Kanakamedla Ravindra Kumar had to face embarrassment in the Rajya Sabha after the central government said that Andhra Pradesh was mired in financial burden due to his unstarred question in Parliament on Tuesday during TDP’s tenure.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary quoted the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the State Finance Audit Report as saying, “After bifurcation of the state, an additional expenditure of Rs 1,62,828.70 crore between 2014-15 And 2018-19 happened. But till now it has not been regularized. As per the report, explanatory notes (EN) were presented by the concerned department for only ₹51,677.74 crore as against ₹1,62,828.70 crore.

The Union Minister further said that as per Article 205, the State Government should receive more than the regular grant by the State Legislature after discussion of the Appropriation Accounts by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the State. For this purpose the concerned departments were required to submit explanatory notes for excess expenditure to the PAC through the State Finance Department.

Shri Amarnath said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had repeatedly informed the people of the state that the current financial burden is due to the mismanagement of the previous TDP regime. He said that the Center confirmed this on Tuesday.
