An MLA, some former ministers and other leaders of the Telugu Desam Party fell into the Godavari river near a bank in Konaseema district on Thursday evening as they were traveling in an inclined boat due to overweight, but were immediately rescued by the locals. took.

Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu, who was in another boat with TDLP deputy leader N China Rajappa, escaped any damage and was safe, party sources said.

Chandrababu Naidu along with his party leaders visited Lanka (island) villages which were battling the wrath of Godavari floods for almost 10 days.

After visiting the villages by boats, the TDP team reached Sompally Revu in Konaseema district when they suddenly collided with the riverbank.

As the TDP leaders tried to get off the boat, it leaned to one side under the impact of the load and threw Undi MLA Mantena Ramaraju, former minister Pitaani Satyanarayana, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and some other leaders.

The railing of the ramp on the river bank also collapsed, causing a sudden stir.

Alert locals and fishermen jumped into the river and saved the TDP leaders from drowning.

The security personnel ensured that the boat carrying Chandrababu Naidu remained stable and safe.
