Teacher scam: Clues suggest involvement of Trinamool youth leader on commission basis

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal, has found some vital clues that point to the involvement of arrested Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh in the scam on the basis of commission.

Ghosh was arrested by sleuths of the central agency on Saturday morning after a nearly 24-hour marathon raid and search operation that began on Friday. During the search operation, ED sources recovered some important documents related to the transactions related to the scam.

Sources said that these documents were some notes on accounts which clearly indicated the commission-based involvement of the arrested leader, for arranging each candidate who had to spend hefty sums to get teacher jobs in state government schools. Are ready.

Sources said that after examining the documents seized from his residence, the central agency officials have observed the existence of a third person responsible for acting as the main middleman between Ghosh and the mastermind of the scam in the West Bengal Primary Board. Education (WBBPE) and West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC).

By examining the accounts notes recovered from Ghosh’s residence, ED officials have been able to breakup the amount received for teaching and non-teaching grades in this nexus. According to the central agency’s estimates, the maximum money transfer was done in the case of recruitment of primary teachers at around Rs 10.50 crore and in the case of upper-primary grade Rs 3.24 crore.

Prior to his arrest by the ED, Ghosh was also questioned twice by officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is conducting a parallel probe into the recruitment scam.
