Kanniyakumari District Chief Education Officer A. Pugazenthi has suspended a teacher of the Government Higher Secondary School in Kannattuvilai near Eraniel for allegedly preaching Christianity during working hours.
Sources said Mr Pugazenthi ordered an inquiry into allegations by a section of students that sewing teacher Beatrice Thangam was preaching about Christianity during her sewing classes, asking her to stitch the ‘cross’, a symbol of Christianity.
