Techie suggests bringing mom in for salary talks, internet pokes fun

Techie Nitesh Yadav’s new idea has created panic on LinkedIn.

Salary negotiation is the hardest part when it comes to changing jobs. Candidates start the conversation with high hopes, that they will convince the Human Resources (HR) person on the other end of the phone to send the offer letter according to their expectations. But often, it is the other way around and candidates usually get convinced by the offer made by HR. People approach their superiors or relatives to find ways to present their candidature in a better way.

But now, a techie has come up with a new idea that has created buzz on LinkedIn.

Software engineer Nitesh Yadav suggests using the hashtag #underrated_skill_in_tech to bring moms to the wage negotiation table. “Can I bring my mother on the salary negotiation call? She can definitely get a better deal,” said Mr Yadav in his post, a screenshot of his tweet.

The question has divided social media. While some users were happy with the idea, others called it “outrageously silly.”

“Mother be like this: Brother, think it right….the other company’s people are giving more than this.“One LinkedIn user commented.” “Mom is definitely the best bargain in every situation,” said another.

“I should definitely bring my dad. They’ll put me on the highest salary and benefits because they’ll then hire the “goddess.” My mom on the other hand… my salary will be a quarter of what’s proposed,” commented another Read.

Mr. Yadav’s post has garnered over 1.62 lakh reactions and over 1,800 comments. It has also been shared by 1,628 LinkedIn users.
