Telangana bans rallies, public meetings amid rising Covid-19 cases

Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Telangana government has banned all kinds of rallies, public gatherings and mass gatherings, including religious, political and cultural events, in the state.

Amid rising Covid-19 cases and the emergence of Omicron version, the Telangana government on Saturday banned all kinds of rallies, public gatherings and mass gatherings, including religious, political and cultural events, in the state.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting organized by Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar.

During the meeting, it was noted that the number of cases of Omicron and Kovid 19 are increasing in other states of India and other countries. Therefore, it was felt that it is important to take utmost care and take adequate preventive measures to prevent its further spread.

As per the orders of the government, the management of public transport, shops, malls, establishments, offices etc. have been directed to ensure mandatory wearing of masks, maintaining physical distancing, frequent sanitisation of premises, provision of hand hygiene and IR. Also ensure screening at entry points. Thermometer / thermal scanner.

Management of schools and educational institutions have been asked to ensure that all staff and students wear masks and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour.

The order further states that not wearing a mask in public places will attract a fine of Rs 1,000.

All people have been asked to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour.

Senior citizens and persons with comorbidities are especially advised to take precautions against COVID-19.
