Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay staged a protest demanding that non-locals and TRS leaders be sent out of Munugodu constituency, where the bypolls are being held today.

Mr. Sanjay, who was on his way to Munugode as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader was not leaving the by-poll constituency in Munugodu, was stopped by the police on the Vijayawada highway in Abdullapuram on Wednesday night.

The police initially stopped Bandi Sanjay’s convoy at Malakpet then at Vanasthalipuram and finally they were shifted to Abdullapuram police station.

Additionally, BJP candidate from Munugodu Assembly Constituency K Rajagopal Reddy on Wednesday night staged a protest demanding the Returning Officer (RO) and Nalgonda Superintendent of Police (SP) immediate action against TRS leaders who are campaigning in Munugodu from outside. had come for.

Sri Reddy along with his cadre marched to the RO office at Chundur in Munugodu assembly constituency.

The BJP leader alleged and questioned why the police and Election Commission officials were allowing TRS leaders who are not voters of Munugodu to stay back as they were influencing voters in villages.

Voting for the Munugodu Assembly by-election began on Thursday.

Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm amid tight security and counting of votes will take place on November 6.

The contest in Telangana’s Munugode assembly constituency is crucial for all the major parties in the state – the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and opposition parties Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.

298 polling stations have been set up and 2,41,855 voters will vote for the Munugode by-election.

While 47 candidates are in the fray, there is a tough fight between BJP’s Raj Gopal Reddy, former TRS MLA Kusukuntala Prabhakar Reddy and Congress’s Palvai Shravanthi.

Besides Munugodu, bypolls are also being held in six other assembly constituencies in the states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.

The other six assembly constituencies are 166-Andheri East from Maharashtra, 47-Adampur from Haryana, 139-Gola Gokarnath from Uttar Pradesh and 46-Dhamnagar from Odisha.

The two constituencies in Bihar where the bypolls will be held are 178-Mokama and 101 Gopalganj.
