Captive Sanjay Kumar was detained by police in Jangaon district during a protest and shifted to his residence in Karimnagar

The BJP in Telangana on Tuesday said its state unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by police in Jangaon district during a protest and shifted to his residence in Karimnagar. The party said in a release that Kumar’s ‘padayatra’ was going on in Janggaon district and he was detained from Pamnoor, where he was camping.

He claimed that he protested the police action against some BJP workers, who protested outside TRS MLC’s Kavita’s residence in the state capital on Monday over allegations of links to the Delhi liquor scam. However, police officials of Jangaon district were not immediately available for comment.

Condemning the police action against Sanjay Kumar, state BJP general secretary G Premendra Reddy alleged in a release that the TRS government did not want Kumar’s ‘padayatra’ to continue. Reddy said the padyatra would start from where it was disrupted. He asked BJP workers to hold peaceful protests across the state this evening against the police action.

The BJP said that the police took Sanjay Kumar to his residence in Karimnagar.
