Telangana CM announces compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the next of kin of those killed in farmers’ agitation

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced Rs 3 lakh to the kin of the deceased farmers in the year-long agitation and demanded Rs 25 lakh from the Centre.

He said that around 750 farmers were killed in the farmers’ movement and it is an inspiration to all. “We got some reports that the central government will not buy boiled rice. Do we need clarity on how much raw rice will be procured? We need to make arrangements accordingly,” the chief minister said.

He demanded to bring Minimum Support Price Act and introduce it in the upcoming Parliament session. He alleged that the Center was pressurizing the states to bring in the Electricity Act and install meters for agricultural use.

“Farmers are worried about this. We are ready to provide free electricity to the agriculture sector in our state. If necessary, you can implement your decision in BJP ruled states.”

He also asked the Center to settle the water share between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The CM also asked the Center to conduct backward class census and scheduled caste classification.
