A day after priests of a temple in Madhya Pradesh objected to an advertisement for Zomato featuring Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, the online food delivery firm issued an apology saying it had no intention of hurting sentiments.

On Saturday, two priests of the Mahakaleshwar temple demanded Zomato to withdraw the advertisement claiming it was hurting Hindu sentiments. In the advertisement, Hrithik Roshan says that he was feeling like getting a thali (food platter) in Ujjain, so he got it ordered from ‘Mahakal’.

Zomato said in a statement that the thali is the recommended item in the menu of Ujjain’s Mahakal restaurant and not the iconic Mahakaleshwar temple. The Mahakaleshwar or Mahakal temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country and attracts a large number of devotees.
