Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday gunned down an unidentified terrorist in an ongoing encounter with security forces in Nowgam area of ​​Srinagar.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said, “Terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front, involved in the recent murder of Khanmoh sarpanch Sameer Bhat, are trapped at the Naugam encounter site.”

In the joint operation of the security forces, the terrorists were surrounded at night. Officials said the hiding militants engaged the security forces in the encounter and the search party targeted them.

Meanwhile, train services were suspended between Budgam and Baramulla due to an encounter near Nowgam, where the main stop in Srinagar is located.

Police said that the operation is going on in the area.
